Peter T Shovlin — Mechanical PE

As a young professional, Peter T. Shovlin has accomplished quite a bit, both personally and professionally, in a very short amount of time—from taking on new leadership roles with Paragon Engineering Services, Inc., (Paragon) to getting married this past June to Laura. Pete’s loyal disposition only strengthens with time. Often it takes several decades to grow into a leader’s rank and earn the respect of your peers, but Pete has successfully accomplished this within the short amount of time he’s been in his specified field of Mechanical Engineering.

Peter graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He started his journey with Paragon Engineering Services, Inc., in 2009. Pete dove right in and enrolled in various associations and groups; either being a frontrunner on a committee or being an active participant and digging in his heels and offering his time. These dynamic opportunities shaped him with a rounded reputation of being reliable, trustworthy and self-motivated in the eyes of the engineering community.

Pete’s experience in the Mechanical Engineering field is very diverse in scope. From start to finish, he can assess the project, make the appropriate equipment selections, design calculations and prepare case studies and reports offering probable construction cost, system comparisons and detailed system specifications. Pete took his Professional Engineering exam in April of this year and passed with flying colors. He is now one of our leaders in Mechanical Engineering and understands and implements the core concepts.

His involvement allows him to research code requirements, and scrutinize field surveys and inspections. His experience with these type of systems have been applied to a wide range of building applications, including K–12 schools, colleges, hospitals, retail/office buildings, manufacturing and industrial plants and hotels. In 2008, Peter’s expertise in sustainable design, energy conservation and green building design earned him a certification as a LEED Accredited Professional.

Pete is gaining speed in an industry that is emerging and lively; the changes are continually evolving to incorporate advancements in technology and design. Rodger Lease, Director of Mechanical Engineer from Paragon states, “Pete has progressed into a leadership role and is responsible for monitoring, guiding and mentoring others who are working with him on projects. He excels in his ability to obtain positive results while constantly overcoming the many challenges in delivering quality work on-time, making a profit and maintaining a positive client relationship. He is creative in his approach to solving design challenges.” In this economy and industry, leaders are necessary. Peter is a leader who is team-oriented, innovative, technology-driven and capable of influencing our company to complement the concerns and demands of our industry.

Pete’s vision has been quite clear since he started with Paragon. He’s worked very hard to make a name for himself and establish himself as a leader. His goals and objectives are always with great consideration for the company. Pete’s service and team work have played vital roles in keeping Paragon on the forefront of meeting the expected reputation of success.

With personality comes heart. Pete shows a great amount of compassion and strength. Just last week he sent around a flyer to help one of his principals raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Pete also designed drawings for Habitat for Humanities in his local area last month. If he is not spearheading a charity or fund-raiser then he is giving a helping hand to the cause.

Between a full days work, night classes, charity events and professional organizations, Pete is active in his demanding schedule. Despite his full agenda, he is always eager to lend a hand or give an ear.
